General Info
CONCERT ATTIRE

The following dress code is in effect for all performances by the Mount Vernon Concert and Jazz Bands during the 2010-2011 school year. Make sure that you look nice and that you are comfortable in the items you choose.

    Concert/Advanced Concert Band

        Ladies: Black skirt (provided), black dress shoes with nylons,
        and a simple white blouse (no extra colors or decor on the white blouse).

        Men: Black dress pants (no jeans), black shoes, black socks,
        and a long-sleeved white dress shirt with a collar.

    Jazz Band

        Concerts: Black dress pants/skirts, white shirt and tie (provided by school),
        black dress shoes and nylons (ladies) or black socks and black shoes (men).

Basketball Games & Community Performances: Khaki/tan pants, white T-shirts and Jazz Ensemble shirts (provided by school).


Band Letters
Letters are earned based on the following point system:
 
PRIMARY ENSEMBLES
Marching Band/Concert Band 1st Semester 50 points M1
Concert Band 2nd Semester 50 points M2
 
SECONDARY ENSEMBLES
Jazz Band per Semester 40 points J1/J2
Winter Guard, Winter Percussion or Indoor Ensemble 20 points WG/WP/IE
 
SOLO & ENSEMBLE
Distric Solo 20 points DS
Distric Ensemble 15 points DE
State Solo 20 points SS
State Ensemble 15 points SE
 
ADDTIONAL ENSEMBLES
All-State Auditions 20 points AS
MSU Quad-State/ISU All-Star 15 points Q
School Musical Orchestra 10 points MUS
Evansville Youth Orchestra 20 points EYO
Other Ensembles 10 points O
Private Lessons (on your band instrument) 10 points PL
 
300 points total earns a Letter and each additional 150 points earn a pin. Each year every member earns a year pin.
